Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a self defense martial art and combat sport based on grappling. You learn how to control a resisting opponent and how to use strangles, chokes and joint locks to end a fight.
No experience is necessary. All skill levels can enjoy learning at Wise Roll Jiu Jitsu Academy; we will get better together.
Kids class starts with a warmup (together). Next we will drill/ play games and we will end class with live rolls.
Adult class starts by warming up/ stretching on your own. After stretching we will drill what we are learning that day. Class will end with live rolls or you may continue drilling.
Mouthpiece, Gi, shoes/flip flops (for leaving the mat or to use the restroom or get water).
Kid belts: white, gray, yellow, orange, green.
Adult belts: white, blue, purple, brown, black.
Everyone’s journey is different; on average it takes 8-10+ years of consistent training to get a blackbelt.
No you do not have to get into shape before you come to the gym.
It is your choice whether you compete or not.
You can find your size by going to the size chart on the website that you are ordering from.
No shoes on the mats.
No jewelry on the mats.
No athletic cups.
Keep finger/toenails trimmed.
No clothes with zippers on the mats.
Wear shoes/flops when you leave the mat or go to the restroom.
Wash your gi after each use.
Do not come to the gym if you’re sick.
